Das am häufigsten verkaufte Auto in Japan ist der Daihatsu Tanto, ein praktischer Kleinwagen. Er hat einen 658 ccm Motor, etwa soviel wie ein Trabant. Deshalb ist er ein sog. "Kei car", ein kleinmotoriges, steuervergünstigtes Auto, die sehr populär in Japan sind.
